7th Annual CATTLEMEN'S DAY

Montana Cattlemen's Association will host the 7th Annual Cattlemen's Day on November 8, 2008, at the Yogo Inn in Lewistown, MT starting at 8:00 a.m. 

The main topic of the day will be brucellosis in Montana and what the loss of our class free status means to cattle producers.  The Montana Department of Livestock will review the Montana Brucellosis Action Plan and give an update on a tri-state brucellosis management plan with Wyoming and Idaho.  Fish, Wildlife and Parks will discuss elk, bison and wolves in Yellowstone Park, stream access, and hunter elk test kits. 

John Munsell will serve as the luncheon speaker and will explain his Meat Contamination Traceback Bill which deals with food safety oversight, particularly as it relates to the larger meat packers.

Senator Jon Tester will serve as the dinner keynote speaker and will describe his recent Beef Checkoff Modernization bill. 

Also on the agenda is a Worker's Compensation Safety Workshop which qualifies those attending for a 4% premium discount.
